| Institution description | National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG)is one of the oldest scientific Institutions in the Middel East. It was founded in Boulac – Cairo in 1839 as an Astronomical observatory and it was moved to its current location at Helwan 1903. From that time and up till now NRIAG has witnessed large developments in several disciplines of Astronomy and Geophysics. Astronomical observations started in 1905; geomagnetic observations and registrations started at 1907 while seismic registration started early in 1899. NRIAG has six departments:- 1- Department of Astronomy 2- Department of Geomagnetism and Geoelectricity 3- Department of Seismology 4- Department of Solar and Space Research 5- Department of Geodynamics 6- Egyptian National Data Center (ENDC) |
