Institution description | The Institut fuer Luft- und Raumfahrtsysteme (ILR, Aerospace Systems) develops (among others) - space debris - helicopter propulsion - unmanned autonomously operating air vehicles (MAV) - helicopter-borne turbulence measurement probe Helipod - measurement systems - navigation systems - meteorological research equipement for airborne platforms In the atmosphere sector the ILR does research (mainly funded by the German government) on turbulence structure and transport above - heterogeneous land surface - artic and antarctical sea ice The most recently started project develops a numerical (LES-DES-RANS) simulation of realistic atmospheric flow over an airplane wing with resolutions in the centimetre scale In future we are planning to work on the sources of convectively induced precipitation and on the turbulence field around wind converters. |
