| Institution description | The Cyprus Institute (CyI), is a non-profit science and technology research and educational institution. Formally established in 2005 and increasingly gaining visibility both locally and internationally since then, started its operations in earnest in September 2007. The Energy, Environment and Water Research Center (EEWRC) is the first Research Center of the Cyprus Institute (CyI) that became operational in December 2007. In accordance with the charter of the Institute, the EEWRC is rapidly becoming an important research resource for Cyprus, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, and North Africa and as a gateway between the European Union and the region. The EEWRC addresses science, technology, economic and policy issues related to major challenges in the fields of energy, environment, climate and water for the Eastern Mediterranean. The CyI has partnered with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation (RPF). |
