SORAD in an Onboard instrument to measure downward and upward short wave solar radiation. SORAD provides "integral" data in space - looking in the upper and lower hemispheres - and in spectral range - from 0.3 to 30 mkm. SORAD consists of two standard pyranometers (upper and lower) and a small box with electronics and memory.
